Responsible AI is not just about implementing AI tools, but also addressing the human impact of replacing people with AI tools.
The true strength of an organisation’s Responsible AI programme is how they are managing people whose roles will be replaced by AI.
Announcing staff cuts due to AI efficiency may be good for PR (however believable it is) but there is a human cost to lay offs. If organisations are not offering retraining to people whose roles are effected by AI then they are not implementing AI responsibly.
Include offers to retrain people whose roles are displaced by AI as part of your Responsible AI programme.
